Unable to map any button with PS3 Controller USB/Bluetooth
« on: August 17, 2014, 02:49:37 AM »
When I got to configure the PS3 controller under the SDL Joystick Interface, I am unable to map any buttons. What happens is, I go to click a button on the graphical Saturn controller, a green checkmark appears automatically, giving me no chance to hit a button on the controller.

Platform: Linux
Distribution: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Kernel: 3.14.0-031400-generic
Yabause version: Version: 0.9.13.1-1
Toolkit: Qt

This was discussed in IRC, but wanted to get an official thread going. The controller, xboxdrv, or sixad is not the issue, as I use this for many other emulators.

The accelerometers in the controller are the problem as sixad takes them to be buttons and they don't have a dead zone, sadly. I fixed this by making a default config file for sixad with

sudo gedit /var/lib/sixad/profiles/default

and adding there lines:

# ##########################
# sixad configuration file #
########################## #
# Features
enable_leds 1
enable_joystick 1
enable_input 1
enable_remote 0
enable_rumble 0
enable_timeout 0

# Joystick
enable_buttons 1
enable_sbuttons 1
enable_axis 1
enable_accel 0
enable_accon 0
enable_speed 0
enable_pos 0

the important one is the enable_accel 0 to get the accelerometers to be turned off. Then start sixad with sixad --start and then start yabause.

This is great! Any chance to get this fix for Windows?

I have this http://www.mayflash.com/Products/PCUSB/PS3003.html which makes PS3 controllers appear as normal game controllers in Windows.

Maybe have to disable something in Mayflash...
